New IXL English Learning Program Launches

Vietnam is now evolving into a developed country, in which English proficiency is necessary for advancement in education and career. In 2025, the government of Vietnam declared that English is the official secondary language. However, up until now, learning English from K-12 classrooms in Vietnam has not been enough to prepare students with English proficiency for practical use. Consequently, most Vietnamese students who are proficient in English must attend private classes, which cost is out of reach for underprivileged students. Therefore, Purple Ink strives to find a more standardized English teaching program, in order to give them an equal opportunity to become proficient in English.

Through this search, we discovered IXL and found it is an effective and easily accessible tool that can support students from any background. We consulted with several educators, all of whom agreed that IXL is an effective self-learning platform. Its personalized approach enables students to learn at their own pace while building strong foundations in English, making it especially valuable for those with limited access to traditional classroom resources. Through this innovative platform, lessons are personalized and interactive, empowering students to study independently, build confidence, and practice consistently. IXL also provides immediate feedback to reinforce learning, while allowing tutors to monitor student progress closely and provide targeted support when needed.

In September 2025, Purple Ink launched a pilot program to serve underprivileged students and our partner Salesian sisters in Vietnam. By April 2026, we have enrolled 83 active learners, including 24 sisters and 59 students ranging from elementary school through college. In just eight months, the results have been highly encouraging. Students have collectively answered over 300,000 questions, spent more than 1,400 hours learning, and mastered more than 11,000 skills on the platform.

Our long-term vision is to expand this initiative and bring IXL to more underprivileged students under the care of our partner sisters in Vietnam. By doing so, we aim to open doors to greater educational opportunities, improved livelihoods, and a brighter future for these students.
